    Press Release #10

The LEADER-AI Project: LEAarning analytics and AI for personaliseD lEaRning – December 2023

At the beginning of December, on 8/12/2023, the consortium met online for a productive partner meeting. The partnership discussed the results from the Toolkit piloting and the revised Toolkit version on which they worked over the last month. The final version is ready to be translated into the partner languages, namely Greek, Estonian, Romanian, and Portuguese. The Toolkit, with its translated versions, is expected to be released in January 2024.

In the meantime, the partnership is about to finalise the scenarios for the training of Work Package 3. The templates for the training have been shared by the leader partner, and the consortium is ready to work on developing the digital content. Following the train-the-trainer approach, a group of 10 trainers, two per partner country, will be trained via an online workshop, and then these will teach a group of 20 HE teachers and staff in each partner country, respectively. The piloting phases are expected to start and finish in the first months of the next year. The first steps have also been taken for the LEADER AI interactive platform in Work Package 4. The partnership discussed the structure and format of the interactive MOOC which will be hosted on the platform and be freely available to all the HE community. The topics are about to be decided, and all partners will then work on developing the practical content.

The LEADER AI Consortium strives for quality through a reflective, user-centered design approach, and we are delighted to share the first products with you soon.

    Press Release #9

The LEADER-AI Project: LEAarning analytics and AI for personaliseD lEaRning – November 2023

The results from the LEADER AI Toolkit piloting are here, and they are very promising. On average, the participants were satisfied with the structure, organisation, relevance, language, content and topics of the Toolkit, as their responses were between 4 (agree) and 5 (strongly agree) in the given statements. The participants stated that the Toolkit is informative, with a simple flow and easy-to-follow structure. It is comprehensive and meaningful, user-friendly and of good quality. The Toolkit can act as a reference guide for various teaching and learning activities. Overall, the language and terminology used are easy to understand. Content-wise, the participants stated that the Toolkit is effective, covering both theory and practice, regardless of the knowledge level of the target group (easy to understand even for those not related to the specific technologies). The methodology is appropriate, clear and handy for educators who need to understand the basics. Thus, it covers higher education requirements. Most found the collection of tools particularly useful, but overall, the Toolkit covers up-to-date topics with examples and specific details.

The partnership will use the findings and amend the Toolkit by adding examples in the collection of tools and the learning design sequence. The consortium already plans to turn the Toolkit into an interactive guide hosted on the platform, where it can also be broken down into separate subsections, allowing this PDF to be used as a printable document. Since AI is constantly changing, the consortium aims to provide the basics to be adapted later by interested individuals. The future deliverables could focus on additional features released in existing or new tools as the project progresses and practical exercises such as prompt engineering in ChatGPT. The piloting results and the final Toolkit version will soon be uploaded to the project’s website.

    Press Release #8

The LEADER-AI Project: LEAarning analytics and AI for personaliseD lEaRning – October 2023

Our LEADER AI Toolkit is currently being piloted in all partner countries with members of the target group, including academics, instructors, researchers, learning designers and support staff. The participants are asked to evaluate the Toolkit’s structural aspects (e.g., topics organisation, flow, ease of navigation), language used and content, indicating their level of agreement in a set of statements. Adequate time will be given for thorough reviewing and revisions. The results from the Toolkit piloting will inform future deliverables, by further unveiling the target groups’ expectations.

In the meantime, the partnership is developing 8 real case scenarios to train the Higher Education teachers and staff in personalising their instruction with Learning Analytics (LA) and AI (Artificial Intelligence). The scenarios are practical and oriented toward real-life situations that HE staff can face daily. They cover a wide range of skills on how to design and offer personalised teaching and learning, for instance, how to offer individualised feedback with generative AI tools and how to design targeted interventions by interpreting the results of Learning Analytics Dashboards. The next phase will focus on developing the training material with digital tools and organising the train-the-trainer workshop to prepare a group of trainers to deliver the training.
